Beccam Aussie Bulldogs are not trying to replace the British Bulldog as it is now. Or recreate the Bulldog of old. We are simply dedicated to developing a 'different type of  Bulldog' unique to Australia and suitable to the conditions and lifestyle.

The Aussie Bulldog is still in the early stages of development and the History of this great breed is still in the making. Selective breeding began in the early 1990's to produce a Bulldog unique to Australia, suitable to the harsh conditions and free from major health problems associated with Bulldogs at that time. Since the early 1990's the Aussie Bulldog has grown in popularity and numbers; the dedication of some select breeders and their continual looking to improve the breed with every generation has kept the Aussie Bulldog breeding program together.

Aussie Bulldogs have a wonderful loving personality similar to that of the British Bulldog, they are intelligent and have a sound happy and predictable temperament; which suits them to the family life they love to be involved in, they love the attention that comes with being around the family (as with all dogs care should be taken around children). A happy healthy Aussie Bulldog loves to play and go for walks. They also love playing in water. Aussie Bulldogs are very loyal and alert making them good watchdogs; they may be dominant with unfamiliar dogs in their yard but it is extremely uncommon for an Aussie Bulldog to have an Aggressive nature. A healthy Aussie Bulldog should live for 10 years or more.
As with all dogs socialising and obedience training is recommended as a puppy.

For Prospective Aussie Bulldog Owners

The Aussie Bulldog is not as yet a registered breed with the ANKC (Australian National Kennel Council). There are however registering bodies who perform the same duties for the Aussie Bulldog as the ANKC does for the wider pure bred dog community. One such body being the UABA (United Aussie Bulldog Association).  Which Beccam Aussie Bulldogs are very much apart of.

The registration process with the UABA is extremely thorough and lengthy. It is carried out by an indiscriminate registrar. The UABA has a complete and knowledgeable record of all Aussie Bulldogs. All records are kept on file; dating back to every foundation line and breed. This is to ensure that all records of breeding are correct. The UABA has requested DNA testing to be done in some questionable cases.

With many people now breeding unpapered, unregistered Aussie Bulldogs it is important to only buy a registered Aussie Bulldog with papers from a indiscriminate governing body. If you buy a dog without papers, there is no way of determining what dogs or breeds were used in the make up of a particular dog.

At Beccam Aussie Bulldogs we will be registering our puppies with the United Aussie Bulldog Association. We recommend to all people interested in owning an Aussie Bulldog to insist that their Aussie Bulldog comes registered with one of the governing bodies; this will include pedigree papers. This is the only way to keep the Aussie Bulldog headed towards a long and healthy future.
