Before you buy an Aussie/ Australian Bulldog
The Aussie/Australian Bulldog is not as yet a registered breed with the
ANKC (Australian National Kennel Council) . There are however
registering bodies who perform the same duties for the Aussie Bulldog as
the ANKC does for the wider pure bred dog community. One such body being
the
UABA (United Aussie Bulldog Association).
The registration process with the UABA is extremely thorough and lengthy.
It is carried out by an indiscriminate registrar. The UABA has a complete
and knowledgeable record of all Aussie Bulldogs. All records are kept on
file; dating back to every foundation line and breed. This is to ensure
that all records of breeding are correct. The UABA has requested DNA
testing to be done in some questionable cases.
With many people now breeding unpapered, unregistered Aussie Bulldogs it
is important to only buy a registered Aussie Bulldog. If you buy a dog
without papers from a governing indiscriminate body, there is no way of
determining what dogs or breeds were used in the make up of a particular
dog.
